WHO WE ARE


The Community Services & Health Industry Skills Council (ISC) is the recognised peak national body providing advice on the training and skills development needs of the community services and health workforce to government and industry.

The community services and health industries underpin the national economy and workforce. Our industries:

  • are the 3rd largest employer, with 1.069 million employees across 350+ occupations
  • represent 10.4% of the workforce
  • has the fastest industry growth rate predicted in next 5 years
  • will create over 170 000 new jobs between now and 2012. (Source: DEWR Australian Jobs 2007)

As an acknowledged industry leader through its extensive research and workforce development projects, the ISC is represented on national workforce committees and is sought as a key contributor to policy development.  The work of the ISC over the past years has been to lead the strategic placement of vocational outcomes and skills recognition as a primary vehicle for building and retaining a sustainable workforce.  More...
